The Glasgow "A-Plant" Tigers are delighted to be able to confirm their 2011 side and listed below are the 7 riders who will race for the team at Ashfield in the new season. The opening fixtures are not yet decided, but the team who will don the stripes are as follows:

JOE SCREEN - The 38 year old veteran will be riding his second season in Tigers colours. the former World Under 21 Champion and British Champion, and World Number 4 moved to Ashfield mid season in 2010 and made a huge impression until he suffered a nasty head injury in a home fixture with Newcastle. Screen will undoubtedly be a big player in the team this season and his all action style should see him improve markedly on his form at the end of the previous season. STARTING AVERAGE - 8.84

JOSH GRAJCZONEK - The 20 year old Queenslander will be starting his fourth season with the Tigers and in all probability it will be his last as he intends to make the move into the Elite League on a full time basis. It is expected that he will be doubling up with another Elite League team in the coming season but his priorities will be with the Tigers in 2011. It is expected that the 2011 season will be a breakthrough year for Josh and he should improve on his starting average. STARTING AVERAGE - 7.10

JAMES GRIEVES - No denying the contribution that James Grieves has made to the Glasgow team over the years and he is currently 4th in the all time list of Glasgow scorers ever. He was the victim of circumstance last season when he lost his place in the side but had no hesitation in coming back to Ashfield for the new season even though he was in hot demand as his average makes him a very attractive proposition. He did earn a lucrative Testimonial at Ashfield at the tail end of last season and the big turnout of Glasgow fans shows just how much esteem he is held in. STARTING AVERAGE - 6.69

CHRISTIAN HENRY - The Australian starts his second spell as a Glasgow rider having ridden for the Club in 2002. It may be something of a gamble bringing the Australian back into the Premier League as he has been missing due to a serious arm injury in recent seasons but if he is able to recover the form that he was showing with Newcastle and more recently Kings Lynn then he is sure to be a fantastic, and surprising addition to the team. Due to that injury sustained he has an average reduction and that makes him a very exciting prospect and will be a key signing for the Tigers. STARTING AVERAGE - 5.21

THEO PIJPER - The first of two new riders to don the Stripes, as the 30 year old Dutchman becomes a Tiger. A rarity in the world of Speedway is a Dutch speedway rider but since arriving on these shores to ride for Edinburgh he has proven to be a top class addition to the Premier League. It had appeared as though he had seen his last racing in the UK but becomes a very attractive signing for the Tigers as he will start on a low average due to a change in average calculations. Pijper will be Scottish based and will start as second string where he should adapt well to the new shaped Ashfield track. STARTING AVERAGE - 4.90

MICHAL RAJKOWSKI - The second of the two new riders to ride for Glasgow is the 25 year old Polish rider. In saying that, The "Raj" did ride for Glasgow on one occasion in the high profile TV Meeting against Somerset where he performed admirably. He has been a key rider for all the teams he has ridden for, especially when he rides at reserve and that is where he will start the season. He did end the season on the injury list, but has been given a clean bill of health from the medics and he will be fine to start the season in the Glasgow reserve berth. STARTING AVERAGE - 4.88

NICK MORRIS - There is little doubt that the Glasgow management hold out high hopes for the 16 year old Australian rider, who could yet ride for Team GB. He came over last year with the intention of giving him a year in the National League but such was his improvement that on his 16th birthday he was introduced into the side and paid for a win in his first ever race, at Berwick against experienced Paul Clews and Jade Mudgeway. He went on to have a very impressive half season with the Tigers and was a certain starter for the new season. There is little doubt that Morris has the chance to go very far in the game given an even break and it says something for the balance of the team that he will start as the lowest averaged rider!. - STARTING AVERAGE - 4.44

The Glasgow "A-Plant" Tigers line up for 2011 is complete and in average order is as follows:

Joe Screen - 8.84
Josh Grajczonek - 7.10
James Grieves - 6.69
Chrisitan Henry - 5.21
Theo Pijper - 4.90
Michal Rajkowski - 4.88
Nick Morris - 4.44
TOTAL - 42.06

This team is, as always, subject to BSPA approval.

Co-Promoter Stewart Dickson is delighted with the make up of the new look A-Plant Tigers team:

"This is just about what we wanted at the end of last season and we have managed to get a far better balance to the team for the coming season. Obviously having Joe Screen as our strong number 1 is fantastic and I genuinely believe that everyone else in the team is capable of adding to their average, and perhaps some of them by putting on significant sums. We have so much better balance to the team and having a reserve pairing to start the league in the shape of Nick Morris and Michal Rajkowski suggests that we can really show strength in depth everywhere we race. So,all in all, I am excited about the team and I hope that the supporters are too, and can I remind everyone that our discounted season tickets are on sale for another couple of weeks before the prices increase so what a fantastic present they will be for all your speedway supporting family and friends.!"
